Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia, Czechoslovakia, Czech Republic, and Czechia; history gives us a lot
of names for the country surrounding the city of Prague. Aside from names, the country has
given us the word “defenestration”, so we can properly refer to people who have been tossed
out of windows for political reasons.
It is still possible to get a coffee in the cafe frequented by Kafka, to see the birthplace of the
Golem of Prague, and drink uniquely Czech beer until you can manage to score a ticket to the
heavily stocked KGB Museum.
