Three dictators walk into a bar… Okay, actually it was a coffee house and it was more like three
dictators, the originator of psychoanalysis, and the victim of a completely random ice-ax
accident. Nevertheless, it was in 1913 in Vienna’s Cafe Central that the twentieth century was
set on its course when Hitler, Tito, Stalin, Freud, and Trotsky all spent their time partaking in
Vienna Coffee House culture. If the Viennese weren’t known for their rigid standards of
cleanliness, who knows what a simple case of food poisoning might have accomplished?
